BSA launch new online equipment store
One of the biggest obstacles to blind sport participation, that arose from our recent Market Research Survey and from talking to participants, schools and clubs over the past couple of years, has been the difficulty in being able to access blind sporting equipment in Australia. To access equipment has often mean’t having to have items shipped from overseas suppliers, converting currencies, paying for import duties and having to potentially wait months for it to arrive, particularly as there are very few items produced in Australia.
To try and combat this obstacle, Blind Sports Australia has been able to work with overseas suppliers, primarily Handi Life Sport in Denmark, and can now make a range of equipment available for sale here in Australia.
The equipment on offer includes a range of audible balls, which have different textures, sizes and colours and can be used for a variety of sports. These balls can be used for Blind and Partially Sighted Football (Soccer), Blind and Low Vision Tennis, Goalball, Basketball, Volleyball, as well as being able to be used in a range of other sports.
We have also been able to source items such as running tethers, blackout eye masks and glasses and goalball court marking tape.
Many of these items are fantastic for general game play and development of a child’s physical literacy, which is an area that we are passionate about, so are ideal for schools, pre schools and families, to start a sporting or physical journey for a child.
