Today on International Women’s Day, we are proud to showcase one of our new community sport resources, Blind Cricket- a beginners guide to coaching. Check it out here:

This years’ #IWD24 theme “Inspire Inclusion’ highlights the specific purpose of our resource, which has been created in partnership with @Blind Cricket Australia to help clubs, coaches, school and volunteers welcome and involve women and anyone who is blind, or have a vision impairment to join and play. Designed to educate people about the adaptations and rules of blind cricket in an easy to understand format, our guide is full of information, tips and case studies that allow the game to be easily implemented.
As we celebrate and recognise the valuable contribution and impact that so many women have had on blind sport in Australia, we highlight the growth of women’s blind cricket and hear from Julie Nuemann, Captain of the first ever Australian blind women’s cricket team: IWD 2024, I want more women and girls to try blind cricket. I hope BSA’s new Cricket Guide encourages clubs the wonderful physical and social benefits that blind cricket offers.
“On IWD 2024, I want to encourage more women and girls to try out the great sport of blind cricket. Captaining our first ever Australian women’s blind cricket team last year has been an amazing experience, and an example of the doors blind cricket has opened since losing my vision fifteen years ago.
I hope this informative BSA Guide encourages clubs and coaches to provide more opportunities for people who are blind and vision or have low vision, and motivates other women like me to experience the wonderful physical and social benefits that blind cricket offers.”
BSA acknowledges the support of the Commonwealth Department of Health’s Driving Inclusion Program who helped to fund this resource and we also thank Blind Cricket Australia for their information and guidance.
